After performing in an outdoor music festival at New York's Lincoln Center back in the early '80's, our band Solstice was approached by a record producer named Billy Jackson. He had been impressed by the diversity of the people our music attracted and, after considerable thought and research, we signed a contract with him and his Dimensional Music Group. The result was a vinyl EP album release of four songs on APE Records in 1982. Andy Lafreniere recently uncovered his copy of the record and digitized it for release here. The versions of the selections are different from the versions we recorded several years later for our own, independently produced album. Jackson had us perform for Miles Davis producer Teo Macero and Kurt Munkacsi who was working with the Philip Glass Ensemble at the time. He also brought a demo to legendary producer John Hammond. They all concluded our music didn't fit into any established genre and would be difficult to market. When our contract was up, we parted ways.
